Nelson Family Vineyards Achieves 100% Solar Power with Floating Array in California

SOLAR ENERGY

Nelson Family Vineyards in California is now fully powered by electricity from onsite solar arrays, including a newly installed floating solar array on an irrigation pond by Noria Energy. This initiative, along with an existing rooftop solar array, is projected to generate approximately 200,000 kWh of electricity annually, covering the vineyard's operations, agricultural pumps, tasting room, shop, and 12 on-site homes.

The winery anticipates annual savings of $90,000 on electricity costs. Additionally, the installation will serve as a research site for UC Davis Wild Energy Center to study the ecological impacts of floating solar, particularly its effects on water quality and invasive species management. The project utilizes renewable energy without displacing agricultural land.
