Nephin Renewable Gas Launches Ireland's Largest Agri-Based Anaerobic Digestion Plant, Boosting Rural Economies
BIOPOWER
Nephin Renewable Gas has commenced construction on Ireland's largest agri-based anaerobic digestion plant near Ballinrobe, County Mayo. The facility is expected to process 90,000 tons of agricultural waste to produce biomethane gas for the national grid.
It will support hundreds of jobs and offer farmers sustainable income opportunities while reducing emissions. An offtake agreement with Flogas will ensure the renewable gas from this plant and two future projects will provide energy for over 38,000 homes, with the Ballinrobe plant set to begin operations in 2027.
