New Forest District Council has approved plans for a battery storage facility by Sky UK Developments Ltd on a 1.6-hectare site near the Marchwood Bypass. The facility will consist of 24 battery storage containers, with a connection to the grid expected by 2035.

The project will have an eight-year commencement period and is designed to operate for 30 years, supporting the UK's clean power commitments. The construction will be overseen by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks.
