New Utility-Scale Battery Storage Project Proposed in Collie, Western Australia
ENERGY STORAGE
A new utility-scale battery energy storage system has been proposed in Collie, Western Australia, covering nearly 180 hectares and featuring a collector substation and underground transmission cable to connect to Western Power's Palmer Terminal Station. The project aims to enhance the region's energy infrastructure, complementing existing systems like Neoen's 2.2GWh battery and Synergy's 2,000MWh system, while retaining over 80 hectares of native vegetation despite some tree removal. The area is rapidly developing as a hub for energy storage, with Tesla also considering a battery re-manufacturing facility for the Asia-Pacific.
