NextChem and Paul Wurth Collaborate on Low-Carbon Solutions for Steel Industry
NextChem, a subsidiary of Maire Tecnimont Group, and Paul Wurth, a technology provider for the steel industry, are collaborating to develop advanced solutions combining electrolysis and syngas production in the iron and steel sector. This partnership aims to convert natural gas into synthesis gas (syngas) for iron ore reduction, which can reduce reliance on fossil fuels and lower CO emissions in steel production.
The integration of electrolysis technology into syngas production is intended to facilitate low-carbon steel production at competitive costs by incorporating green hydrogen, thus decreasing coke usage and minimizing the carbon footprint of steel plants. The collaboration emphasizes the commitment to energy transition and decarbonization within the steel industry.
