Nexus Power, an Indian startup, is developing biodegradable batteries from agricultural waste as a sustainable alternative to lithium-based batteries for electric vehicles. Founded by sisters Nishita and Nikita Baliarsingh, the company aims to commercialize its technology by 2026, targeting EV manufacturers while contributing to rural income and reducing carbon emissions. With plans to scale production and over 50 patents filed, Nexus is positioned to capitalize on the projected $680 billion global battery market by 2034.
