Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has called on global renewable energy manufacturers to invest in the region, leveraging its silicon and lithium resources to support a partnership with the Rural Electrification Agency aimed at providing electricity to 69,337 households. The initiative includes a 5.5 MW solar plant and 77 mini-grid sites, potentially attracting $1.2 billion in investments and adding $27 billion to Nigeria's GDP while creating 280,000 jobs. The state is offering tax incentives to position itself as Nigeria's mini-grid hub, focusing on sustainable growth in agro-zones.
