Nordic Bio-Graphite Develops Forest Waste to Graphite Process for Sustainable Batteries and Steel

ENERGY STORAGE

Swedish start-up Nordic Bio-Graphite has developed a process to produce synthetic graphite from forestry residues, significantly lowering energy consumption and CO2 emissions compared to traditional methods. This innovation aims to secure a sustainable domestic supply of critical raw materials in Europe, which currently relies heavily on imports, particularly from China. Supported by EIT RawMaterials, the initiative aligns with Europe’s goals for sustainable battery materials and a fossil-free energy transition by 2030.
