Nova Power & Gas Launches Romania's Largest Battery Energy Storage System in Cluj County

Nova Power & Gas has commissioned Romania's largest battery energy storage system, located in Florești, Cluj County. The system has an operating power of 200 MW and a capacity of 400 MWh, effectively doubling the country's total battery storage capacity to 798.8 MWh.

Prior to this installation, Romania's capacity was 398.8 MWh, according to Transelectrica. The system's operation was authorized by the Mayor of Florești, Bogdan Pivariu. In addition to the battery system, Nova Power & Gas is constructing a 150 MW gas-fired power plant in Câmpia Turzii, expected to be operational by December 2026.

The company plans to add a further gas power plant of 200 MW and additional energy storage systems of 600 MW by 2028, totaling 1,200 MWh. Nova Power & Gas is part of the E-Infra Group and operates in Southeast Europe with significant electricity and gas supply.
