Ofgem has approved £150,000 funding from the Strategic Innovation Fund for the Social Virtual Power Plant (Social VPP) project. Led by LCP Delta and the Centre for Energy Equality, the initiative aims to provide free or low-cost home batteries to households and small businesses to reduce energy bills and alleviate pressure on the energy grid. The project will assess the feasibility of installing home batteries and utilizing smart software to optimize energy use, ultimately enhancing local energy resilience and ensuring equitable access to energy benefits in the northeast region.
