Oklahoma University Leads $18.7 Million Grant for Carbon Storage Initiative

HYDROGENCARBON CAPTURE

The University of Oklahoma, leading an academic consortium, has secured an $18.7 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to establish the Oklahoma Carbon Hub. This initiative aims to assess the geological viability of three sites in Oklahoma for underground carbon dioxide storage, targeting the sequestration of approximately 54 million metric tons over 20 years. The research will include drilling core samples to analyze the geological properties of the Arbuckle Group formation, with participation from three industrial partners involved in sustainable practices.
