Origen Secures Funding to Advance Limestone-Based Direct Air Capture Technology

Origen, a climate technology firm operating in the UK and US, has secured funding for its limestone-based direct air capture (DAC) system. Led by Barclays Climate Ventures, the investment aims to expedite the development of this innovative technology, which extracts carbon dioxide from the atmosphere using treated limestone. Origen has announced collaborative projects, including a facility in North Dakota with a 1,000-ton annual capture target and a proposed Gulf Coast project with a capacity of 50,000 tons per year.
