The Perur desalination plant in Chennai will add 400 million litres per day (MLD) to the city's water supply by March 2027. With a budget of Rs 6,078.40 crore, the project is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and is currently 60% complete. Upon commissioning, it will serve 22.67 lakh residents across Greater Chennai Corporation and surrounding areas.
