Pesa to Develop First Tri-Mode Hydrogen-Battery Electric Train in Poland with EU Funding
HYDROGENFUEL CELL
Pesa Bydgoszcz has secured 36 million złoty from the EU Recovery & Resilience Fund for a 108 million złoty tri-mode multiple-unit project. Supported by Poland's National Fund for Environmental Protection & Water Management, the HEMU (Hydrogen Electric Multiple Unit) will utilize three power sources.
This marks Poland's first hydrogen passenger train, crucial as 40% of the railway network is unelectrified. The project aims to reduce CO₂ emissions and enhance regional transport capabilities.
