The People's Liberation Army (PLA) is transitioning its space information support mission from the Aerospace Force (ASF) to the Information Support Force (ISF) to enhance capabilities in communications, navigation, and reconnaissance. This restructuring aims to address technological bottlenecks and facilitate integration with the civilian space sector. A new civilian university, Aerospace Information University in Jinan, is part of this effort, focusing on training talent and supporting PLA objectives in the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).
