Plantsea has exceeded its crowdfunding target, raising £350k to advance its seaweed-based biodegradable polymer film from lab-scale to industrial trials. The funding will enable a 100-fold increase in biopolymer production and support demonstration-scale manufacturing across the UK, Europe, and Asia.

The company aims to replace petroleum-derived plastics with marine-safe alternatives and is running paid pilots with global brands. This seed round brings total investment to over £1.85m, including support from Innovate UK.
