Public Consultation Begins for V&A Waterfront Expansion in South Africa

WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION

Public consultation has started for expanding the V&A Waterfront in South Africa, involving the reclamation of approximately 3.81 hectares of land near Granger Bay. The R20 billion project, co-owned by Growthpoint and the Government Employees Pension Fund, aims to add mixed-use developments and public amenities.

The initial phase includes marine works for a seawall and breakwaters, expected to take three years. The precinct, which generated R11 billion in retail sales in 2025, supports over 83,000 jobs and will see new luxury developments by 2026.
