The Puerto Rico Energy Bureau has approved La Cooperativa Hidroeléctrica de la Montaña to operate its microgrids, which aim to provide renewable energy through solar power and revitalized hydro plants in mountainous areas. The initiative, part of the Resiliencia Energética Fotovoltaica Comunitaria project, plans to install 5 MW of photovoltaic systems in remote towns and restore hydro plants' capacity to 50 MWh. This development is expected to enhance electricity distribution and reduce outages in the region.
