Punjab and Haryana Rice Farmers to Receive Carbon Credits by FY26-End
CARBON CAPTURE
Rice farmers in Punjab and Haryana are set to receive carbon credits by the end of FY26 for implementing sustainable practices on 30,000 acres, generating over 50,000 credits. This initiative, spearheaded by Grow Indigo, aims to boost farmer incomes through the sale of credits valued between $10 and $40 each, with a target of one million credits annually by 2027. The program, compliant with Verra's carbon standard, promotes methods such as direct seeding and low tillage.
