Punjab is set to install standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with a total capacity of 1 GWh to enhance peak load management and facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources. The projects will be structured into smaller configurations, with specific requirements for bidders including experience in energy projects and compliance with standards. The implementation is expected to occur in phases over 18 to 24 months, employing various funding models such as CAPEX for DISCOM ownership or OPEX based on service agreements.
