Quintana Roo to Enhance Carbon Credit Commercialization by 2026 as Part of Sustainability Strategy
CARBON CAPTURE
Quintana Roo plans to enhance carbon credit commercialization by 2026 as part of its sustainability strategy, focusing on forest conservation to benefit rural communities. Several projects in the Mayan region are already generating carbon credits, with potential for expansion, particularly in Jose Maris Morelos. Additionally, Mexico aims to mobilize US$4 billion for global mangrove conservation by 2030, further supported by the establishment of the Caribbean's first Environmental and Sargassum Monitoring Center in 2025.
