Raffineria Metalli Cusiana Implements Advanced Multi-Sensor Sorting for Aluminum Recycling in Italy
SPACE ECONOMY
Raffineria Metalli Cusiana S.p.A. in Verbania, Italy, has implemented a multi-sensor sorting line with TOMRA Recycling to enhance its aluminum recycling capabilities, producing high-purity aluminum fractions. The company, with a production capacity of 100,000 tonnes per year, has shifted focus to scrap processing, which now constitutes half of its revenue. The sorting process utilizes X-ray technology and Dynamic LIBS for alloy-specific sorting, establishing two output streams of 100% recycled aluminum ingots and high-purity scrap.
