Rhea Space Activity Develops Autonomous Navigation for Military Satellite Operations
SPACE ECONOMY
Rhea Space Activity, a startup based in Washington, D.C., is developing autonomous navigation software called Vanguard for military satellite operations under a $1.9 million contract from the U.S. Space Force.
This initiative, part of the SpaceWERX Sustained Space Maneuver Challenge, aims to enhance satellite mobility by adapting NASA's navigation technology to reduce reliance on GPS and improve capabilities in contested environments. Rhea is currently testing the software in a physics-based simulation to prepare for its integration into Space Force satellites.
