Rwanda's Ministry of Environment Sets Fees for Carbon Credit Projects

CARBON CAPTURE

Rwanda's Ministry of Environment has introduced a fee structure for carbon credit projects, effective January 13, which includes charges for account opening, registration, and project approvals. Developers must allocate at least 30% of carbon credit revenue to local communities, while transaction fees will include a 2% authorization fee on emission reductions. Additionally, 1% of carbon credits will be held in a National Buffer Account as insurance against project failures.
