RWTH Aachen University Leads RECLAIM Project for Direct Battery Material Recycling in Germany

CIRCULAR ECONOMY & RECYCLINGSTRATEGIC MINERALSENERGY STORAGE

The Chair of Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components at RWTH Aachen University is testing delamination techniques within the RECLAIM project, funded by North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. This three-year initiative aims to develop eco-friendly battery recycling technologies to reduce reliance on primary resources.

Key partners include Fraunhofer FFB, MEET Battery Research Centre, Cylib, and No Canary. The project focuses on directly recovering valuable materials from end-of-life batteries through delamination, using thermal, mechanical, or wet-chemical methods, with evaluations planned for industrial application.
