SA Water to Take Over Coober Pedy's Water Network to Reduce High Costs
WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION
SA Water is set to assume control of Coober Pedy's water network, aiming to lower water bills for residents who currently pay three times the state average. The transition will occur by year-end, with repairs to the aging infrastructure expected to take longer.
The local council faces financial challenges in maintaining essential services, which led to the transfer decision. No additional connection fees will be imposed on existing customers, and the council is anticipated to exit administration soon.
