The SAFELOOP project, launched in June 2024 and funded by Horizon Europe, seeks to improve the safety and performance of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles, involving 15 partners across 11 countries. With a goal of increasing battery lifetime by 15% by 2030 and meeting EUCAR Hazard Level 3 safety standards, the initiative focuses on developing components from recycled materials and establishing a European supply chain. As part of the BATT4EU initiative, SAFELOOP aims to enhance e-mobility and energy storage technologies in response to projected global EV battery demand of 735 GWh by 2025.
