Saudi Arabian Investment Fuels £2 Billion Sustainable Aviation Fuel Plant in Teesside

HYDROGENCARBON CAPTURE

Alfanar has pledged £2 billion to develop a sustainable aviation fuel plant at the North Tees industrial cluster, expected to create over 2,000 construction jobs and 240 permanent roles. The facility will process 1.5 million tonnes of biomass waste annually, producing up to 180 million litres of sustainable jet fuel, sufficient for 25,000 short-haul or 2,500 long-haul flights. This initiative is part of a broader effort to position Teesside as a hub for low-carbon aviation fuels, supported by government funding and linked to carbon capture projects.
