Scottish Hydrogen Innovation Network Reports Increased Engagement and Collaboration in 2025

HYDROGEN

In 2025, the Scottish Hydrogen Innovation Network (SHINe) reported increased engagement in facilitating collaboration across the hydrogen value chain in Scotland. SHINe attended nine industry events, including the All-Energy Exhibition in May, and hosted 15 events, such as a funding workshop in August.

These initiatives aimed to identify barriers to investment, including securing offtake agreements and regulatory challenges. A co-creation workshop in Glasgow focused on addressing significant industry challenges with input from SSE, Green Cat Hydrogen, and Storegga.

Feedback indicated a gap between industry needs and academic research outputs, as well as difficulties in replicating lab-scale trials. SHINe continues to position Scotland as a global investment hub for the hydrogen sector.
