Senators Introduce SAT Streamlining Act for Faster Satellite Approval Process
SPACE ECONOMY
U.S. Senators Ted Cruz and Peter Welch have introduced The SAT Streamlining Act, which mandates the FCC to process satellite applications within one year to bolster U.S. leadership in the satellite industry.
The bill also seeks to standardize market access for foreign satellite systems, while the FCC is exploring an 'assembly line' approach for faster licensing reviews. Recently, the FCC authorized SpaceX to deploy an additional 7,500 low Earth orbit satellites and announced plans for a regulatory framework for direct-to-cell satellite connectivity.
