Shannon Energy Seeks Customers for Utility Scale Solar Farm in Mullingar, Ireland
Shannon Energy is actively seeking customers for its utility scale solar farm development at Slanemore, Mullingar, Ireland. The project is ready to proceed upon securing a large energy user within a seven-kilometer radius, with potential candidates including the nearby Lidl Supply Centre, an abattoir, or a hospital.
The solar farm will feature 2,000 panels, each the size of a front door. Additionally, Shannon Energy is promoting the installation of solar panels in car parks, which can help companies reduce grid demand and earn Guarantee of Origin status, carbon credits, and tax relief.
The installation requires 30 to 40 parking spaces and is supported by a government grant of €162,000. The company also offers land rental to farmers for solar installations, with payments of €1,100 per acre for a 40-year lease.
Farmers can earn approximately €40,000 annually from leasing 35 acres. Shannon Energy is co-founded by Gerry and Noel Shannon and operates across multiple projects in Ireland and Western Europe.
