STRATEGIC MINERALS
Sibanye-Stillwater is evaluating the restart of the Mount Lyell mine in Queenstown, Tasmania, which could create at least 300 jobs over an estimated 23-year mine life. The mine has been closed since 2014 following workplace fatalities.
A feasibility study has been completed, and annual production is projected at 26,000 tonnes of copper and 16,000 ounces of gold. Local officials and industry leaders express optimism about the project's potential impact on the region's economy and workforce development.
