Siemens Energy Targets Electricity System Rebuilding in Iraq and Syria

HYDROGEN

Siemens Energy plans to enhance electricity systems in Iraq and Syria, addressing capacity lost to conflict and underinvestment. In Syria, electricity generation is below 20% of pre-war levels, while in Iraq, Siemens aims to add 14GW of capacity.

The company has 11.65GW installed in Iraq and 117GW across the Middle East. Discussions are ongoing in the UAE for future projects. Siemens is also developing hydrogen-capable turbines, although hydrogen projects have been delayed due to immediate grid demands.
