The SKZ Plastics Center is collaborating with ENTEX Rust & Mitschke GmbH, Mercodor GmbH, and Wacker Chemie AG to develop a continuous recycling process for silicone elastomers via depolymerization in a planetary roller extruder. This project aims to conserve resources and reduce the energy-intensive production of virgin monomers, contributing to the European Union's goal of climate neutrality by 2050. The project is funded by the German government's 8th Energy Research Program from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2028.
