SMS group has acquired selected Metso business units in Germany, India, China, and Australia to enhance its technologies for sintering and pelletizing, as well as CFB calcination. This acquisition bolsters SMS group's capabilities in iron ore preparation and supports the development of a hydrogen-based process that integrates Metso's Circored technology with its Open Bath Furnace. The new approach aims to process iron ore fines with lower Fe contents, improving flexibility in feedstock and energy concepts.
