SoCalGas Integrates Renewable Natural Gas from WM Simi Valley Facility into Pipeline System

BIOFUELS

Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) has integrated renewable natural gas (RNG) from the WM Simi Valley RNG Facility into its pipeline system, marking its first connection with a landfill-based source. The facility processes landfill gas into pipeline-quality RNG, producing approximately 2.2 million MMBtu annually and potentially avoiding 100,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year. SoCalGas aims to replace 20% of its traditional natural gas delivery with renewable sources by 2030, with RNG expected to account for 5.5% of its gas delivery to core customers in 2024.
