Sonnedix Commissions 36.8-MW Battery-Ready Solar Park in Portugal

ENERGY STORAGE

Sonnedix has commissioned a 36.8-MW solar park in Portugal, featuring bifacial modules, single-axis trackers, string inverters, and a grid-code-tuned plant controller. Designed to be battery-ready, the project allows for future storage integration to enhance output during dusk and provide grid services.

The plant operates in a market where Sonnedix utilizes a combination of long-term corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs) and merchant sales. The construction focused on standardization and string-level SCADA systems to improve commissioning and operational efficiency, while also implementing biodiversity measures. As Portugal progresses in renewable energy and storage capabilities, the addition of battery storage could enhance the site's flexibility for evening demand peaks.
