Southeast Asia is set to emerge as a significant exporter of biofuels, with production capacity projected to surpass regional demand, according to a senior Petronas executive. At the APPEC conference in Singapore, it was revealed that Asia's sustainable aviation fuel capacity could reach 4 million metric tons by 2030.
The region's advantages include access to feedstocks and surging biofuel transport demand, which is expected to hit 250 million liters annually. A new project in Pengerang, Johor, aims to commence production in the latter half of 2028.
