Southern Water's Ancasta Tunnel Boring Machine Advances 19km Pipeline Project in Hampshire
WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION
Southern Water's tunnel boring machine, Ancasta, is progressing on a 19km drinking water pipeline project in Hampshire. The project began in mid-2025 and will be completed in over three years at a cost exceeding £100 million.
The pipeline connects Otterbourne, Compton, and Rownhams, with tunneling to minimize disruption to roads and ecology. Southern Water partners with MGjv and HB Tunnelling for the construction, aiming to enhance water network resilience for 2.7 million customers.
