Spain's Nuclear Power to Contribute 19% of Electricity Generation by 2025 Amid Renewable Growth

WIND ENERGYFUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER

In 2025, Spain's nuclear power plants are projected to generate over 19% of the country's electricity, despite the growth of renewable energy sources. Overall electricity demand rose by 2.6%, reaching approximately 256 TWh.

Wind power leads generation at 22%, while solar PV approaches 19%. Spain operates seven nuclear reactors with a total capacity of 7,123 MWe, but is committed to a phased shutdown of its nuclear fleet by 2035. The challenge remains in balancing energy security during the transition to renewables.
