Sparsholt College Apprentices Tour Apsley Farms' Renewable Energy Operations
BIOFUELS
First-year crop technician apprentices from Sparsholt College visited Apsley Farms in Andover to learn about renewable energy in agriculture. The 1,150-acre farm features an anaerobic digestion facility producing biomethane and renewable electricity for the national grid.
The facility generates 114 GWh of biomethane and 9.4 GWh of electricity annually, sufficient to supply around 10,000 homes. The visit aimed to demonstrate the integration of renewable energy, soil health, and crop production.
