The District of Sparwood has initiated construction on a $30 million wastewater treatment project, expected to finish by September 2027. Industra Construction Corporation will replace an aging oxidation ditch with a secondary treatment process to enhance wastewater quality and accommodate future population growth.

Funding includes $8 million in grants and $20 million in borrowing. The project, prioritized in 2022, addresses community needs stemming from residential growth in various neighborhoods.
