Sri Lanka's Renewable Energy Project Development Plan, GREAT 2025-2030, targets over 2,600 MW of renewable capacity, primarily from solar and wind. However, challenges include grid capacity lagging behind generation and transmission bottlenecks affecting project viability.

The plan includes 650 MW of Battery Energy Storage Systems and aims to enhance infrastructure and operational visibility to manage growth. Success will depend on timely execution and readiness of the grid to support the ambitious renewable energy goals.
