St. Mary Parish Council Allocates $500,000 for Bayou Vista Drainage Improvements

The St. Mary Parish Council has allocated $500,000 for drainage improvements at the Bertrand-Vining Pump Station in Bayou Vista, with funding expected to be available in the fall. The estimated cost for the upgrade has risen to $1.3 million, while the council also passed a resolution opposing the use of eminent domain for carbon capture projects. Additionally, the drainage district recently secured $1.1 million in a lawsuit regarding design issues at the pump station.
