STRABAG UK and University of East London Collaborate on Low-Carbon Tunnelling Grout Project

CIRCULAR ECONOMY & RECYCLING

STRABAG UK and the University of East London have launched a £216,000 Knowledge Transfer Partnership to develop a low-carbon grout for tunnelling. The 26-month project aims to replace traditional cement-heavy grout with a sustainable alternative made from construction waste and sugar industry biowaste, potentially reducing embodied carbon by over 61%. The initiative promotes circular economy principles in infrastructure delivery.
