Taiwan's Vice Premier Cheng Li-chiun stated it is 'impossible' to move 40% of the island's semiconductor capacity to the U.S., countering calls from U.S. officials. Cheng emphasized that Taiwan's semiconductor ecosystem, developed over decades, will continue to grow domestically while expanding its presence in the U.S.

A recent agreement has been made to lower tariffs on Taiwan's exports to the U.S. from 20% to 15%. TSMC is investing $165 billion in Arizona for semiconductor production.
