Tanzanian Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba laid the foundation for the TSh 49.9 billion Mkata Electricity Substation project in Tanga Region. Funded by the government, the project includes a TSh 44.14 billion substation and TSh 5.75 billion transmission line, aimed at improving electricity reliability in Handeni and Kilindi Districts. The project is expected to create 120 jobs and enhance power supply for local mining operations, with completion scheduled for November 16, 2026.
