Tesla has successfully implemented dry coating for both anodes and cathodes of its 4680 cells, as reported in its 2025 business report. The production is taking place in Austin, with expectations for domestic cathode material in Texas and LFP lines in Nevada to start by 2026.

Additionally, Tesla's lithium refinery has begun pilot production, converting spodumene into lithium hydroxide, reducing reliance on South American and Australian materials. The 4680 cells are also being used in certain Model Y versions, potentially increasing production efficiency and energy density.
