Tesla Proposes Mega Pack Battery Storage in Ripon, California
The City of Ripon has received a project referral for the outdoor storage of approximately 150 Tesla Mega Pack lithium-ion batteries in the Heavy Industrial (M2) zone. The project will utilize 350 E. Fourth Street (6.58 acres) and part of 222 E.
Fourth Street (7.58 acres) located between Stockton Avenue and Highway 99. The battery packs are to be maintained at a dormant state with a charge of about 30 percent, with no charging or discharging on-site.
The operation will also involve the storage and transport of batteries and other heavy industrial equipment. The application is scheduled for review at the Ripon Planning Commission meetings on February 17 or March 16.
