Thailand Cabinet Endorses Carbon Capture and Storage Guidelines for Emission Reduction by 2050
CARBON CAPTURE
The Thai Cabinet has approved guidelines for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology to support greenhouse gas emission reductions, aligning with the country's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The Department of Climate Change and Environment will coordinate efforts across government agencies to develop necessary laws and policies, while the Ministry of Energy will explore carbon dioxide sequestration potential in the upper Gulf of Thailand. If deemed feasible, infrastructure for CCS could begin development in 2034, targeting emissions reductions in challenging sectors and fostering sustainable economic growth.
